Chris’s dog training approach is most similar to a behavioural therapy framework.
He is incredibly efficient and the majority of his time is spent directly addresses behavioural problems rather than exploring underlying thoughts or emotions.
With classical behavioural training and with Chris’ years of experience working with dogs, behaviours are learnt through environmental interactions.
These behaviours can be unlearned and replaced with new and good behaviours.
The training process is an action-oriented approach and you, the dog carer are required to partake actively in the process.
Learning to Speak Dog is learning to Understand, Communicate and Connect with your Dog on a deeper level you never thought of before.
during training you will learn
• How to help your dog feel safe, calm and curious instead of anxious, reactive, protecting or destructive.
• Why Verbal Affirmation should be your primary reward for your dog.
• Why your dog probably sees you as playmate instead of the trusting leader.
• How you can change this using the Sit Stay Drill.
• When not to pet/pat your dog and how this can sometimes cause mixed signals.
• How treat giving during training can aid or hinder and when treats can be used.
• How dogs take on your body language and energy more than the words you use.
• How intentional tone of voice is a necessity in obtaining clear communication.
